Lesson 2   The Macintosh Tutorial

Getting Started on the Mac

One of the wonderful things about the Macintosh is that it comes with its own tutorial. We will begin this module by completing the Macintosh Tutorial that comes with your computer (both Part 1 and Part 2). When your Operating System was loaded onto your computer, a two-part Macintosh Tutorial was loaded with it. Return to this module after you have completed both parts of the tutorial. The tutorial will take you approximately 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours depending on your skill level. Keep in mind that this is an estimate and that each person comes to the computer with different skills and abilities.

(Note: It is possible that when loading the operating system, you chose not to load the tutorial, however, this is usually not the case. If this is the case, you can load the tutorial by inserting the Operating System Disk [or CD] into your computer and following the directions. See your trainer if you need help.)

To access the Macintosh Tutorial:

  1. Point at the ? at the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Click and hold the mouse button to access a drop-down menu.
  3. Continue holding the mouse button and drag the pointer down the list until Macintosh Tutorial is highlighted. Release the mouse button and the tutorial will appear on your screen.
  4. To begin the tutorial, click on the Start the Tutorial button, then select Part 1. When you have finished Part 1, take a short break and then complete Part 2.
