Lesson 7   Going "Home"




Changing the Default Home Page in Netscape 4.0X

       You can change the home page configuration by doing the following:

  1. Open the Edit Menu and choose Preferences.


  2. Select Navigator from the category box (see diagram below).
  3. In the Navigator starts with section, click on the radio button next to Home Page.
  4. In the Home Page section, enter the URL of the page you want to make your home page in the Location box. Make sure to enter it exactly.
  5. Click OK at the bottom of the dialog box.


    You have now reconfigured the home page to which Netscape will default. Therefore, not only will your browser default to this page when you start up, it will also return to this page when you click on the Home button. You can change this configuration at any time by following the above procedure.

Note: You may need to restart the browser in order for this new configuration to take effect. This is NOT the case for all browsers.

       Change the default home page to a site that you would like to have as the home page. Surf to some other sites and then return to this new home page by using the Home button. Remember, you may need to restart your browser before the new configuration will take effect.
