Accessing Your Personal Address Book While in the Create Message window, use the Address button. WebMail displays the Address Book window. From the pull down menu select Personal Address Book (the Public Address Book is governed by the system administrator). Click on the Change button to take you to this window. Any addresses that you have added prior to this (from a Read Message window) should be present in this window. Addressing E-mail Once in the Personal Address Book, WebMail allows you to select the recipients (TO, CC, BCC) of your message. Select the name(s) of the person to which you want to send the e-mail. Use the To button to add this name to the To box (or use CC or BCC) Use the OK button at the bottom of the window to return to the Create Message window. The message should now be addressed to the person(s) you selected. Adding Addresses or Updating Your Personal Address Book Scroll to the bottom of the window. Enter the new name and e-mail address in the appropriate boxes. Use the Save button. The new entry will be added. You can update an entry using this same procedure. When WebMail detects that this name already exists, WebMail will update the entry by adding the new e-mail address. Setting Up A Personal Distribution List (Group Mail) As an educator, you will find Group Mail a handy, time-saving function. You can create groups for your students, department, parents, committee members, etc. This will allow you to send a message to everyone in the group. Select the names that you want to place into a particular group and add them to the To box. Hold down the Shift key to select several names that are adjacent. Hold down the Control key while you select several names that are not adjacent . Use the To button to transfer these names to the Selected Recipients box. Scroll to the bottom of the window and type the name of the group in the personal distribution box. Use the Save List button to save this group to your address book. The name of the group will appear in the Personal Address book and can be used to send a message to the entire group. Select this group name the same way you would select an individual. To add new entries to this distribution list: Add the new name(s) and address(es) to your Personal Address Book using the directions above for adding a name to your address book. Select the new name(s) and transfer it to the Selected Recipients box using the To button. Select the previously created distribution list in the left window (Personal Address Book) and transfer it to the Selected Recipients box using the To button. Scroll to the bottom of the window and type the same group name in the personal distribution box. Use the Save List button to save this "new" group to your address book.

Assignment WebMail 7 - Address Book: Obtain several e-mail addresses to add to your address book. They could be addresses of others taking the Intro to Ed Tech Course, colleagues, family members, students, etc. Make sure your trainer is one of them. Add these names and addresses to your WebMail address book. Practice addressing a few e-mails using the address book function. Create a Personal Distribution List for a group of these names. Send an e-mail to this group indicating that you are practicing the group address book function. Include your trainer in this list and indicate the assignment name and number. Let your site trainer know if you have any questions.
