How to View the Video

Internet 101 has been developed in two forms: one for those on a high bandwidth connection such as a T-1 or perhaps a clear 56K, and another for those connecting via modem. If the quality of the presentation is poor or marginal you might want to try the low bandwidth version.

Getting the Netshow Player

Internet Explorer for PC's

In order to view the lectures you will need to have the Microsoft Netshow Player. If you are using Internet Explorer 3.0 (or later), the player will be automatically downloaded when you first go to the tutorial. Simply follow the instructions as you are prompted by the install program. For those of you who are on a modem connection, the download of NetShow may take 20-40 minutes. If you are using an older version of Internet Explorer you will need to upgrade to use the Netshow Player.

Netscape Navigator for PC's

If you are using Netscape 3.0x you will need the Netshow Plugin which you can download below. Save the file to your hard drive (be sure to remember where you save it!). For those of you who are on a modem connection, the download may take 20-40 minutes. Then launch the executable and follow the install instructions. Netscape 4.0x is not yet supported, but will be soon. You can upgrade to Netscape 3.01 below.

Macintosh

In order to view the minilectures you will need the Netshow Plugin which you can download below. Additionally, you must either be using Internet Explorer 3.01 or Netscape Navigator 3.0 (or later). Save the file to your hard drive (be sure to remember where you save it!). Then launch the executable and follow the install instructions. For those of you who are on a modem connection, the download of NetShow may take 20-40 minutes. Download the Netshow player or current WWW browsers by clicking on the icons below.
